Salsia Care Foundation Officially Launches to Promote Inclusion and Belonging

Salsia Care Foundation (SCF) officially launched in October 2025 with a simple but powerful message: Everyone matters, everyone belongs.

The launch marked the beginning of a dedicated journey to promote belongingness, dignity, and essential support for individuals with special needs, empowering their caregivers and building greater understanding across our communities under the theme: "Fostering a Culture of Understanding and Acceptance of Individuals with Special Needs in Our Communities."

Walking Together for Acceptance and Inclusion

The launch activities kicked off on 25 October 2025 with a community walk themed “Walking Together for Acceptance and Inclusion.” More than a physical activity, the walk served as a public expression of solidarity with persons with special needs and their families.

As participants moved through the community, they delivered a clear message: inclusion must extend beyond meetings and policy documents—it must be actively lived out in our homes, schools, workplaces, places of worship, and neighborhoods.

The Official Launch Event in Nungua

On 26 October 2025, SCF held its official launch and fundraising ceremony in Nungua, Accra. The grand occasion formally introduced the Foundation's mission to foster a society where every ability is celebrated.

A memorable highlight was the performance by SCF's special needs children, who sang Michael Jackson's "We Are the World" and exhibited their handmade artworks, showcasing their remarkable talents and potential.

"Everyone matters. Everyone belongs."

The event was honored by the presence of key community leadership, including the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) and representatives from the Social Welfare Department of the Krowor Municipal Assembly, the Kpeshie Police Division, traditional Chiefs of Nungua, and local Imams.

Beyond Awareness: Looking Ahead

For SCF, raising awareness is only the first step. Meaningful inclusion requires shifting societal perceptions, listening to lived experiences, challenging stigma, and offering practical caregiver support. SCF continues to expand initiatives across schools, families, and healthcare channels to ensure long-term, lasting impact.
