SCF Takes Ability in Disability to the Runway at Ghana Month Fashion Show

On 21 March 2026, Salsia Care Foundation (SCF), in partnership with ROBB Foundation, brought the message of “Ability in Disability” to life at the Ghana Month Fashion Show held at West Hills Mall as part of activities marking World Down Syndrome Day.

The event gave 15 children with Down syndrome, intellectual disability, autism, cerebral palsy, and physical disabilities an opportunity to step into the spotlight and show the world what they can do.

Preparing for the Runway

The fashion show formed part of SCF’s Ability in Disability Project, which began in 2025 with activities including artwork, creative expression, and bead-making.

For the fashion showcase, SCF purchased African prints and worked with fashion designers who created two custom outfits for each of the 15 models. The children were also taught modelling skills and rehearsed for several weeks, preparing them to confidently take on the runway.

Owning the Spotlight

And when the day finally came, they owned the runway. The children walked with confidence, style, and joy, receiving loud applause and even a standing ovation from the audience.

What began as an opportunity to showcase clothing became one of the most exciting highlights of the entire durbar, captivating the crowd and creating a powerful moment of celebration.

"Given the opportunity, children with disabilities can surprise, inspire, and shine."

Ability Taking Centre Stage

For SCF, the message was clear: there is ability in disability. The fashion show challenged perceptions, celebrated the individuality and potential of children with disabilities, and reminded everyone present that given the opportunity, children with disabilities can surprise, inspire and shine.

It was not simply a fashion show—it was ability taking centre stage.
